Vaccine staff advises delaying third dose until fall

People who had an appointment to receive a third dose of the covid vaccine this week and who queued at the Huelgas health center to put in their arm, returned home without the reinforcement. As this newspaper has learned, health personnel “recommended” waiting until the fall, when Spain is expected to have doses adapted to the latest circulating variants of SARS-CoV-2. However, this does not mean that third doses are not being administered -1,157 people have received it in Burgos in the last week- nor that Sacyl has introduced any change in the vaccination protocol against coronavirus disease, but rather that there are cases in which the health personnel are advising to wait.

Nor are those who have not met the minimum periods between doses vaccinated, even if they want to travel abroad and need to update the certificate. However, in some of these cases exceptions are being made if they show documents that corroborate that, in fact, they have to travel to a country that requires a valid covid certificate.

The vaccination strategy in Spain recommends a booster dose in those over 18 years of age in all cases. That is, both in people who have been infected naturally and also received the two injections that complete the vaccination schedule against covid, as well as in those cases in which protection is conferred only by the two injections.
