Billionaire Øystein Stray Spetalen recently had a “nice lunch” with Israel’s ambassador and FRP politician Himanshu Gulati.
There is a lot going on in Israel. There is another election on March 23. It will be the fourth election in just a few years, after various government alternatives have struggled to secure a majority in parliament. In addition, there is a lot of interest in Israel, as a result of the clear first place in the vaccine race.
At the time of writing, 58.2 percent of the Israeli population has received at least one dose of vaccine. 45.5 percent are fully vaccinated.

Want cooperation
Both FRP and SP have called for cooperation with Israel on vaccination, after the Danish Prime Minister Mette Fredriksen went to Israel and entered into a collaboration on research and production of vaccines.
It has also piqued the curiosity of both billionaire and investor Øystein Stray Spetalen and FRP politician Himanshu Gulati. On Tuesday, they were at lunch at the embassy residence of the Israeli ambassador Alon Roth.
When Nettavisen gets in touch to hear what the meeting was about, a word button Spetalen answers. On SMS we get a short message: “Have no comment”.

FRP politician Himanshu Gulati tells a little, but he also does not want to lighten the veil too much.
– It was a very nice lunch with the Israeli ambassador, something I have from time to time with him as deputy leader of Israel’s friends, Gulati says to Nettavisen.
Friends of Israel is a faction in the Storting with members from various parties.
– This time Øystein was also present, and we had a nice chat about several current issues, including the upcoming Israeli election and the corona. Unfortunately, it is probably not relevant to go into anything more than that, says Gulati.

Solberg said no to Israel
On the same day as the lunch, the news came that the Norwegian government had refused a vaccine collaboration with Israel. In a letter sent by Israeli Ambassador Benjamin Netanyahu to Prime Minister Erna Solberg, the head of state invited a vaccine collaboration.
In particular, it concerned research into the development, production, antibodies, regulation and licensing and distribution, could DN report on Tuesday.
But Solberg had no interest in such a collaboration. Instead, all agreements have gone through the EU.
– An assessment was made of whether we had more to gain from cooperation with Israel at that time. Then the health professional assessment was that we did not have it. Therefore, we replied to Israel that we did not see the need for enhanced cooperation on this now, but that we would continue with the video conferences, Solberg told DN.
