“Today is a touch of light after a long period of darkness. An epochal day of hope for our country and for the many people, including doctors and health workers, who have fought and continue to fight against the virus “, said Giovanni D’Ippolito, president of the Order of Surgeons and dentists from the province of Caltanissetta, who today participated in the inauguration ceremony of the anti Covid-19 vaccination campaign held at the Civic Hospital of Palermo. D’Ippolito, the first doctor and citizen of Nisseno to get vaccinated by virtue of his institutional role, underwent the inoculation of the first dose of the Pfizer-BioNtech vaccine together with the other eight presidents of the Sicilian Orders.
“Past experience has taught us that vaccines are the best remedy for eradicating disease. Today, thanks to the efforts of scientific research, the antidote against Covid-19 allows us to protect the vulnerable groups of the population and safeguard the health of the thousands of doctors and health workers engaged daily in the fight against the coronavirus. We ask the regional government to take an active part so that freelance doctors and dentists are also vaccinated. Now – adds D’Ippolito – an important prevention campaign is needed to inform citizens about the advantages of vaccination and the positive impact it will have on the health of the community ”.
