A Norwegian vaccine expert believes that there will be variants of the coronavirus that the vaccines will not work against.

New variants of the coronavirus are constantly being developed. These days, it is the delta variant that is ravaging Norway, also known as the Indian variant.
In a risk report at the beginning of July, the National Institute of Public Health stated that the variant can take over in Norway during the summer.
To TV 2 says vaccine researcher Gunnveig Grødeland that she is sure that sooner or later there will be a variant that the vaccines we have now do not provide protection against.
– At some point it will happen. The virus is constantly evolving, and it is mutating all the time, there are already over 10,000 variants of SARS-CoV-2, and it will continue. The variants we have so far have the vaccine a very good effect against, says Grødeland.
But the vaccine researcher at the University of Oslo still does not think there is cause for concern.
– If we can form a basic immunity in the population, then they will probably provide protection and against varieties that are even further away from participating. So there is reason to hope that no matter what happens, we have basic protection in the future, says Gunnveig Grødeland.
