Vaccine consignment arrived for children between 5 and 11 years old in BC – El Sol de Tijuana

This Monday, the application of vaccines against the coronavirus for boys and girls from five to 11 years of age will restart in Baja California, after two days of suspension due to lack of the biological.

The state Health Secretariat announced in a press release that a second shipment arrived this Sunday afternoon, although it did not specify the number of doses.

On Wednesday 29, during the weekly press conference of Governor Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda, the Secretary of Health, José Adrián Medina Amarillas, said that on Thursday they expected a shipment of 54 thousand doses; but this finally did not arrive.

With these biologicals, it was expected that the vaccination days would not stop in the state, but the vaccines against coronaviruses from the Pfizer laboratory have been sold out since last Friday, July 1.

Through a statement, the state Health Secretariat reported that 1,970 doses were applied that day at the Institute for Sustainable Mobility (Imos) in Tijuana, the only place in the entire state enabled for the vaccination day.

So far, 15% of the 350,000 infants that the Ministry of Health hopes to immunize in the state have been vaccinated, although Secretary Medina Amarillas acknowledged that some have already received the biological in the United States.

The first shipment of vaccines arrived in the state on Friday, June 24, and its application began on Monday, June 27.

Until July 1 in Tijuana, 16 thousand 970 vaccines were applied; in Mexicali, 18 thousand 462; in Ensenada, 10 thousand; in Tecate, 1,590; in Playas de Rosarito, two thousand doses; in San Felipe, 678; and in San Quintín, four thousand doses.

The vaccination day for adolescents from 12 to 17 years of age and over 18 years of age will continue during the week.
