Vaccine advances to combat lung cancer in the Republic of Cuba are shown

The Republic of Cuba showed the advances they have obtained in the investigations of the CIMAvax-EGF vaccine, a clinical trial to evaluate its provision, in a preventive way, in patients who have high risks of suffering from lung cancer, according to information released by health authorities.

This vaccine is produced by the Center for Molecular Immunology (CIM), and is obtaining results that were described as promising by the President of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel, during the meeting of the country’s leadership with experts and scientists related to health.

In this regard, the Doctor of Science and Director of Clinical Research at the CIM, Tania Crombet, stressed that the objective of the CIMAvax-EGF vaccine is to renew the portfolio of oncological drugs, and work on the 10 leading causes of death from cancer. in Cuba.

The Center for Molecular Immunology has, among its projections for 2023, conduct clinical trials on 20 products that are under development and 11 under investigation, in addition to another 30 projects, of which 70% are aimed at fighting cancer.
