Vaccinations for people between 50 and 70: in Montevideo the agenda was completed until Saturday | the daily

The Minister of Public Health, Daniel Salinas, reported this morning before 9 a.m. that the schedule for people between 50 and 70 years to be vaccinated was completed in Montevideo between Thursday and Saturday. There are no more places in the departments of Canelones, Maldonado, Salto, Paysandú and Flores. The minister pointed out that in a few hours the opening of the agenda will be announced from Monday 22, and that in the interior there are still vaccines available.

Although the agenda was scheduled to open on Tuesday, from Monday the system enabled people of this age range to register. “It was completed in a few hours, given the good adherence of the population to vaccination,” said the minister.

This population will receive the Coronavac vaccine, from the Sinovac laboratory, from a batch of 1,558,000 that will arrive this afternoon at the Carrasco airport and will be available at the vaccinations from Thursday.

As confirmed by the Ministry of Public Health, at various times due to the traffic generated since Monday night, the four ways to schedule were saturated, leaving the system disabled on repeated occasions and causing severe delays.

Minister Daniel Salinas himself reported that WhatsApp has a limit of simultaneous users (16,000) and that at this time there is “great simultaneous concurrence.”

Vaccination begins in residential areas

This Tuesday also begins the vaccination of workers and adults interned in long-stay accommodations, with some 15,000 Pfizer-BioNTech vaccines that were left over from the first group of prioritized health personnel.

It is estimated that the entire population, some 25,000 people, including residents and officials, will be covered with the second batch of 50,000 doses of Pfizer-Biontech that will arrive in the country this Wednesday, with which health personnel will also continue to be vaccinated. .
