From 2022, boys will also receive an invitation for a vaccination against HPV. The municipalities of Gorinchem, Hardinxveld-Giessendam, Molenlanden and Sliedrecht belong to this region.
Children who have previously missed a vaccination (for example due to corona) are also given the opportunity to make up for their vaccination. Children who qualify for this will soon receive an invitation from RIVM by post. This concerns the following injections:
– Children born in 2013: DTP (diphtheria, tetanus, polio) and MMR (mumps, measles, rubella)
– Children born in 2006/ 2009/ 2012 HPV
– Boys born in 2004/2008 HPV
– Young people born in 2008 meningococci
From 2022, all girls and boys will receive an invitation for HPV. This is a change in the National Immunization Programme. The human papillomavirus (HPV) can cause cervical cancer. But also other forms of cancer, such as cancer of the anus, penis, oral cavity, throat and esophagus. Boys also benefit from the HPV vaccination. The HPV vaccine works best when a child has not yet been infected with the virus. The age at which children receive an invitation is therefore from 13 to 10 years. There is a good chance that they are not yet infected.
TO CATCH UP Due to corona and vaccination on date and time, some children have not been able to get their vaccinations with previous group vaccinations. They will again receive an invitation from the RIVM to catch up with the vaccination. With the permission of a parent, the vaccination data is shared with the RIVM. With this knowledge, RIVM can invite the child for vaccinations at the right time. You can also always request a vaccination certificate from the child at a later time. From February 14, this permission can easily be arranged in advance via the parent portal of Jong JGZ: www.jongjgz.nl/ouderportaal.
