Vaccinations at Berlin vocational schools have started – Berlin.de

The corona vaccinations for Berlin vocational school students have started. The new vaccination offer in schools is intended to make it easier for young people to opt for vaccination protection.

“There are some schoolchildren who have already been vaccinated, at their GPs or in the vaccination centers,” said Education Senator Sandra Scheeres (SPD) on August 9, 2021 at the start of the automotive engineering high school in Berlin-Charlottenburg. “Well, I can already see a willingness to vaccinate, but we want to create another low-threshold offer here at the school.”

All pupils aged 16 and over can be vaccinated. According to Scheeres, minors need a declaration of consent from their legal guardian. The adolescents are brought to the school’s vaccination area in classes and informed by doctors and soldiers from the German Armed Forces. If you want, you can get vaccinated directly. “There are large parts of the students who are still very insecure,” said school principal Ronald Rahmig. “It does require intensive preparation and advice.” So far, however, he has been satisfied with the start of the vaccination at his school.
