While a total of 65 seniors over the age of 85 died of covid-19 on Sunday, January 31, the number of deaths in this age group fell to 14 on Tuesday, February 16. As for the number of hospitalized, their daily increase decreased from 90 to 24 people.
–
According to data from the Ministry of Health, almost 160,000 people were vaccinated 80+ as of Tuesday, and 79,000 at the end of January.
–
The members of the Center for Modeling of Social and Biological Processes (BISOP) also pointed out that the data must be assessed at a certain distance. According to them, the effectiveness of the vaccine after the first dose should not be evaluated until two weeks after its administration.
–
“The number of efficacy of Pfizer is often reported to be 52%. However, this shows the condition between the first and the 21st day after vaccination. No court can expect the vaccine to protect on the first day after its administration, “they said.

EMA: Postponement of the second dose results in death
The European Medicines Agency (EMA) has also previously called for caution. She said she recommended giving a second dose 21 days after the first. The extension up to 42 days, as proposed by the World Health Organization (WHO), is not banned by BISOP, but it is encouraged to be careful.
–
“Caution should be exercised when considering a wider dosing interval, especially outside 19 to 42 days after the first dose, as the risk of decreasing vaccine efficacy increases with delaying the second dose of vaccine,” the center wrote.
–
The fewer vaccine doses available, the greater the effect of second dose delay on death and severe BISOP events.

Israeli scenario?
A similar development has taken place in Israel, which still has a significant advantage over European countries in vaccination. The country is currently registering more new hospitalizations for younger than older people with covid.
–
According to experts, the change in the trend is probably related to the high proportion of vaccinated people in the older age group. The largest group in hospitals currently consists of residents under 60 years of age.
–
In the Czech Republic, covido-19 has been vaccinated similarly to other EU countries since 27 December. To date, medics have administered 484,000 doses of vaccine, including 15,000 on Tuesday. So far, 182,000 people have received both necessary benefits.
–
Until now, the registration system is only open to people over the age of 80, but the vaccine is also given to health professionals and workers and residents in nursing homes.
