The first vaccines against Covid-19 are about to be approved. They are novel in idea, not in terms of the method of administration. That could change with other vaccine candidates: They are supposed to be administered via nasal spray.

In Switzerland they tried it before, back then against the flu: a vaccination using a nasal spray. The remedy was unsuccessful. The suspicion that it was associated with hemiplegia in some people could not be dispelled, and the manufacturer withdrew the vaccine from the market. Since then, no nasal spray vaccine has been available in this country. Elsewhere, definitely: in Germany, for example, there is one on the market. It contains weakened influenza viruses and is approved for immunizing children and adolescents against influenza.
