EDUCATION reveal the side effects of vaccine AstraZeneca is smaller than the risk after exposure to the corona virus (Covid-19). Studies show the AstraZeneca vaccine does increase the risk of blood clots and other serious conditions that can cause bleeding.
However, the study also found that the emergence of the same risk after corona virus infection was much higher.
The research team led by the University of Oxford found an increased risk of stroke after vaccination with Pfizer – but again at a much lower level than after infection.
The researchers said this demonstrated a “huge” benefit from vaccination.
The results were announced after the coroner stated on Thursday (26/08) that BBC Radio Newcastle presenter Lisa Shaw died of complications from the AstraZeneca vaccine.
The 44-year-old died in May after experiencing a week of headaches following the injection of her first dose. He suffered from a blood clot in the brain.
The research team examined the medical records of more than 29 million people who received the first dose of the Covid vaccine between December and April, as well as nearly 1.8 million people infected with the virus.
The study, published in the British Medical Journal, looked for complications that occur up to 28 days after the vaccine injection or viral infection.
Researchers found for every 10 million people vaccinated with the AstraZeneca vaccine:
107 people were hospitalized or died from thrombocytopenia, which can cause internal bleeding, but that’s almost nine times lower than a person’s risk of developing the condition after contracting the coronavirus.
66 people were hospitalized or died from blood clots in the veins, but that’s almost 200 times lower than the risk of the same event after infection
