Vaccination rate lagged behind what the Ministry predicted last week

In the past week, it seems that it has not been possible to increase the number of vaccinations as far as the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport previously predicted. It was announced last Tuesday that the number of injections in the week ending today would be increased from 250,000 to 400,000. More than 500,000 vaccinations would take place for next week.

On the corona dashboard, where the government informs the public about all things covid, under the heading ‘Planned shots this week’ is the number 416,002. The explanation states that this is the number of injections that are expected to be given in the Netherlands in the week from 22 to 28 March, up to and including today.

There is a disclaimer: “The real number may be different, for example because people cancel their appointment or because of problems with the delivery of vaccines”.

Target not achieved

If you look at the number of injections that were taken daily last week, it appears that the target figure has not been achieved by any means. According to the corona dashboard, an average of 40,712 people per day have been punctured in the past seven days. If you multiply that by seven, you get a little less than 285,000 injections for the past week.

Sunday’s numbers are not yet in the corona dashboard, but the number of 400,000 can only be reached if huge numbers of people have been punctured today. And there is nothing to indicate that this is the case.
