Vaccination pass. What are the rules for taking the train?

“I have to take the train from Paris to Saint-Étienne, is the health pass with a PCR test enough or do I have to be vaccinated? », Jacqueline asks.

Since Monday, January 24, the vaccination pass is required for all long-distance travel by interregional public transport, i.e. for domestic flights, journeys by TGV, Intercités and night trains and in interregional coaches, we read on the government website.

You therefore need to be vaccinated to take the train from Paris to Saint-Etienne.

There are three ways to get your vaccination pass: present a complete vaccination schedule (with booster dose), a recovery certificate du Covid-19 dating back at least 11 days and less than 6 months or have a certificate of medical contraindication preventing vaccination.

There is still another way valid until February 15: “People embarking on a vaccination course have the temporary possibility of benefiting from a valid “vaccination pass”, provided they receive their second dose within 4 weeks and present a negative test within 24 hours”, explains the government.

And for the children?

The vaccination pass only concerns people aged 16 and over. Below this age, it is the sanitary pass that applies, whether in transport or in restaurants or at the cinema.

“The vaccination pass does not apply to minors aged 12 to 15. It is therefore the health pass – which includes the additional possibility of presenting proof of a negative test of less than 24 hours – which remains in force for this age group. »

If your child is between 12 and 15 years old, a negative test is therefore sufficient to take the train or a domestic flight. If he is under 12, he does not need a health pass or a vaccination pass.
