Vaccination of people over 80 who are not in residences in the Valencian Community begins | Radio Valencia

The Ministry of Health begins this week the administration of the first dose of the covid vaccine in people over 80 years old who are not in nursing homes and that they are not big dependents. It is one of the main novelties of the vaccination process planned for this week in which, also for the first time, the first dose of the vaccine will be administered to large dependents who are less than 50 years old. 10,000 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine have been reserved for this very specific group.

In the case of those over 80 years old and also in large employees over 50 years old, about 42,000 doses of Pfizer’s cow have been reserved. Regarding the Moderna vaccine, the Ministry of Health has decided to reserve the stock it has only to administer the second dose of this vaccine to people who already have the first dose of Moderna, given the uncertainty generated by not knowing when this laboratory will deliver committed shipments to Europe. Meanwhile, the elderly who are in residences and who have not been able to be vaccinated until now due to covid symptoms continue to be vaccinated. They are individual cases and distributed throughout the Community. If there are no setbacks, between this week and next week the covid vaccination will be definitively completed in residences in the Community, according to the estimate of the Councilor.

Preparing mass vaccination

By the way, This week the first meetings will take place to prepare the mass vaccination processes in April after President Puig revealed the places that will host him. You have to decide how much staff is going to be mobilized and what specific spaces are going to house the material.

Sources from the Consell admit to the SER that carrying out a rigorous planning in order to open it is very complex if the exact number of doses that the Valencian Community will have is not specified, but especially if there are no maximum guarantees that they will arrive. those doses. In this sense, they explain that they are going to transfer to the Ministry of Health the need for it to offer more detailed and precise forecasts of the amount of vaccines that it will distribute among the autonomous communities to further refine a process as complicated as that of mass vaccination.

This Monday it has been known that the Ministry of Health will directly coordinate the mass vaccination process in large cities, mainly populations of more than 50,000 inhabitants. Coordination will be delegated to the health departments for the rest of the populations.
