Vaccination of children is slowing down | Inland

The minors receive the corona vaccine from Pfizer/BioNTech, which must be administered twice. According to the weekly figures of the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM), just over 605,000 children have had the first shot so far. That is slightly more than half of the minors who qualify for the jab. This is more than 18,500 more than a week earlier. The week before, more than 25,000 first shots were given and more than 29,000 the week before.

Of the more than 605,000 vaccinated children, more than 450,000 have also had the second shot, with which they are at least ready for the time being. As a result, the vaccination rate rose from 32 to 39 percent. The vaccinators administered more than 75,000 repeat shots last week, compared to more than 106,000 in the week before.

Adults

In adults, the number of injections has not really increased for weeks. Almost 116,000 shots were taken in this group last week, compared to more than 135,000 a week earlier and more than 616,000 at the beginning of August. In every age group over 51 years, the vaccination rate is above 80 percent. In the seventies this is even more than 90 percent.

Across the Netherlands, 83.1 percent of all people who are eligible for an injection have now received at least one dose. Almost three quarters are fully vaccinated. This makes the Netherlands a European sub-topper.
