Vaccination of children from 5 to 11 years old: the first batch with 996,000 doses arrived in Peru | News

Last night, a first batch from the Pfizer laboratory arrived in Peru with 996,000 doses of the covid-19 vaccine for children aged 5 to 11, the youngest age group to receive drug protection.

The shipment is already in the Talma warehouses, in Callao, where a brief ceremony was held with the presence of the President of the Republic, Pedro Castillo; as well as authorities from the health sector and Foreign Relations.

The immunization of minors will begin on Monday, January 24, starting with those who are 10 and 11 years old and those children with comorbidity (from 5 to 11 years old). Later it will be the turn of children from 8 to 9 years old and finally children from 5 to 7 years old.

During the ceremony, the Deputy Minister of Benefits and Health, Augusto Tarazona, stressed that this time almost a million doses have arrived and that in the coming weeks they will continue to arrive progressively to protect the child population.

“The country can be calm in the sense that we are going to protect our children more. It is time to give such a special and beloved population the opportunity to be vaccinated, we need to take care of their health,” he said.

The Ministry of Health (Minsa) will publish this weekend in the I put the shoulder platform the names of the children with whom vaccination against covid-19 will begin, as well as the centers to which parents can take them for their respective immunization.-

According to Gabriela Jiménez, director of Immunizations of the Minsa, parents must place the name and ID of their children on said platform and then a list of the places where they can go will appear.

“According to their address that appears in Reniec, the platform will tell parents if they can go to a hospital, a vaccination center or the school where the minor studies, for which we already cross information with the Education sector There will be several options.”
