Daniela Vaca, a university student, has to urgently travel abroad these days. One of the requirements is the presentation of the Covid-19 vaccination card. One of the options that the young woman manages are the 64 first-level health centers and four medical brigades that are spread over four areas of the capital Santa Cruz.

The municipal secretary for health, Adriana Amelunge, reported that the first and second level services (five municipal hospitals) were regularly operational during the 15 days of indefinite strike, guaranteeing assistance in the emergency services.

Covid-19 vaccination is maintained in our 64 tier one health centers. The demand for the vaccine by the population has dropped a lot, the cases are decreasing and, for this reason, we are in a situation of control “, explained the municipal administration.

He also added that they have medical brigades spread across the four cardinal points that, in addition to immunization, offer medical counseling, vital sign retrieval and nasal antigen testing services.

The brigades were mobilized in the north, east, west and south of the city. In the last points there were: the sub-union offices of the 9 and 10 districts, the fourth ring of the double lane for La Guardia and the seventh ring of Avenida 2 de Agosto.

“Treatments for patients with diseases such as tuberculosis and flu have also been maintained,” the authority added.

On the other hand, Amelunge indicated that the largest number of pathologies that were cured during the days of indefinite unemployment are emergencies related to injuries caused by road accidents, mostly, in addition to other emergency situations, such as surgical interventions.

“There have been road accidents caused by motorcycles and bicycles, among other vehicles. There have also been events caused by fights, where in some cases side arms were used ”, explained the municipal head of health.

Santa Cruz Medical College President Wilfredo Anzoátegui said this entity has also sent medical brigades to checkpoints to assist residents who are stationed at roundabouts and other areas.

“Most of the patients have been treated with injuries and blows caused by falls, and also people with chronic diseases who have difficulty accessing a health center in time,” said the doctor.

He added that doctors moved north, south, east and west of the capital, strengthening care on Cristo Redentor Avenue and Busch Avenue’s second ring road.

Regarding the coronavirus, Anzoátegui said that the epidemiological curve has decreased and that is why now the cases do not exceed 10 per day. “This is not because the necessary tests are being carried out, but rather because now the curve has decreased and this is an effort of the population to have respected their vaccination schedule”, applauded the representative of the doctors.

The multisectoral organization Bolivian Country Coordination Mechanism (MCP) has launched the national campaign “I take care of myself, I take care of myself for you”, with the aim of reducing, preventing and fighting HIV and Covid -19 in the country.

From MCP Bolivia it was explained that the campaign also tries to demonstrate “the great value that each person has and the reason for the need to continue to generate awareness. This does not speak only of a personal commitment, but it goes beyond, and therefore of the importance of making the most of all these efforts ”.

According to the MCP report, there is a drop in the rate of people who have taken the HIV rapid test since the start of the coronavirus pandemic
