Vaccination in nursing hospital died…

On the afternoon of the 3rd, at a nursing facility in Ilsandong-gu, Goyang-si, Gyeonggi-do, officials, including the police forensic investigation team, are busy working to investigate the death case of the new coronavirus infection (Corona 19) vaccination. News 1

– As the vaccination of the new coronavirus infection (Corona 19) in Korea began in earnest, there was a case of death after vaccination. As all the confirmed deaths have been confirmed as severely ill patients who have been admitted to nursing hospitals, controversy over whether they can be vaccinated against Corona 19 is arising. Currently, patients admitted to nursing hospitals are classified as the top priority target for vaccination.

According to the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on the 4th, 15,4421 people were vaccinated against the Corona 19 as of 0 o’clock on that day. After vaccination, 718 cases of adverse reactions such as fever or muscle pain were reported, of which 5 were death cases.

All five people who died after vaccination were hospitalized in nursing hospitals and had various serious diseases. Although I was conscious, it was confirmed that it was difficult to live my daily life alone. The dead in their twenties in Daejeon died on the 4th, two days after the vaccination on the 2nd. He suffered from epilepsy, stayed in a facility for the severely handicapped, and was recently admitted to a nursing hospital. Similarly, a patient in her 50s in a nursing hospital in Jeonju, Jeonbuk, who died on the 4th after vaccination on the 2nd, suffered from cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, and collapsed from a cerebral hemorrhage last year. A patient in her 50s in Buan-gun, Jeollabuk-do, was vaccinated for 3 days and died a day later, but suffered from diabetes and myocardial infarction.

Cho Eun-hee, head of the post-vaccination management team of the Corona 19 Vaccination Response Promotion Team, said at a briefing on the day, “Even in the influenza (flu) vaccination, the underlying disease is the highest priority vaccination target group. The reason for this is that people with underlying diseases are included in the priority list because the great benefit of lowering the mortality rate and the severity of flu vaccination is greater than that without vaccination.”

“Corona 19 vaccine was also included in the priorities of vaccinations for patients with underlying diseases in the WHO (World Health Organization) and in various circumstances due to the evidence of various advanced clinical trials. Korea also included patients with underlying diseases through the Vaccination Review Committee. Therefore, if you currently have an underlying disease (anaphylaxis, etc.), if there are no contraindications, vaccination is recommended.”

Those with underlying diseases are more likely to become seriously ill or die when infected with Corona 19, so the benefits of vaccination are greater.

Among experts, it was argued that vaccinations for severely ill patients in nursing hospitals should be carefully determined and a system for intensive management after vaccination should be established. There were also voices that it would be better not to vaccinate patients in the terminal stages of their death.

Ma Sang-hyuk, vice-president of the Korean Vaccine Society, said, “There is not much to gain from vaccination to end-of-life, unconscious patients, and loss may increase. If they die, they should be vaccination carefully, taking into account that they can increase their anxiety about the vaccine.” “Rather than a patient lying in a nursing hospital, hospital staff are more likely to be infected outside and spread it inside the hospital,” he said. He added that the government should carefully review the exclusion of vaccinations for terminally ill and unconscious patients and present relevant guidelines.”

In a briefing on the 3rd, Commissioner Chung said, “The nursing hospital has been in bed for a long time and there are elderly patients with many underlying diseases. If there are medical reasons, such as a fever, imminent death, or poor general condition, even if vaccination is desired, it can be excluded.”

Kim Woo-joo, a professor of infectious medicine at Kodae Guro Hospital, said, “If you are a hospice patient or those who will die tomorrow from terminal cancer today, there is no benefit from getting the vaccine. Vaccination should be done by the predicting physician when the benefits of vaccination outweigh the side effects. Even if the vaccine wasn’t the cause, returning to OBI Rock could be socially controversial,” he said.

As most of the patients in nursing hospitals suffer from various underlying diseases, some pointed out that they should check their health status well when determining whether to receive vaccination. Most vaccines have an immune response in the process of forming antibodies, and in this process, the vaccine suffers adverse reactions such as fever and body aches. It is said that adverse reactions that disappear within a day or two for healthy people can be a catalyst for rapidly deteriorating health status for patients with poor health conditions. Professor Chun said, “People in nursing hospitals cannot express themselves well, and often do not get fever even if they are inflamed due to decreased immunity. So, you must check your cardiopulmonary function through blood, x-ray, and electrocardiography.”

Professor Chun said, “Most have vascular diseases such as high blood pressure, diabetes, myocardial infarction, and stroke, but it is the underlying disease that is most susceptible to corona. It is true that these people must get the vaccine, but if you get the vaccine when you are inflamed or in poor health, it can be a kind of’trigger’.”

He said, “If these people have low blood pressure, high fever, shortness of breath, or dizziness after vaccination, this should be considered a serious reaction. In that case, it is necessary to make a system after vaccination so that treatment for sepsis, pneumonia, and heart attack can be immediately tested.”
