Vaccination in missions | They have announced that they will apply the fifth dose against Covid-19

Lilian Tartaglino – LT4

After a meeting of the Argentine Federal Health Council (COFESA), the data showed that most people didn’t apply more than one or two doses. The figures expressed that 41 million applied the first, 37 million the second and then dropped to 21 million with the third and 6 million with the additional dose.

Concern about the large percentage that did not continue with the application is focused on people over the age of fifty or with comorbidities, as the risk is higher, Tartaglino explained. He also recalled that there was no shortage of doses in the province and that they were always available in CAPS or vaccination centers.

Relief from infections and mortality has come with vaccines and although cases have declined, the virus is still in the environment. The Secretary of Health also clarified that after one hundred and twenty days of application, the effects and immunity decrease and it is necessary to strengthen the dose to stay protected.

At the moment they await the creation of a single vaccine that protects against all strains of Covid scheduled for next year, but warn of the importance of completing the vaccination calendar.

Regarding the vaccination campaign for children from one to four years of age, Tartaglino recalled the importance of parents becoming aware and bringing their children to vaccination.

As for the extra vaccines on the calendar, he reiterated that they are against measles, rubella, mumps and polio. A strong presence of these viruses has not been detected in the country; however, he recommended protecting children from holidays when many go abroad, to countries where their circulation is high.
