Minister Jaramillo highlighted the efforts of the Directorate of Promotion and Prevention and the Expanded Immunization Program (PAI), who led the initiative on November 18 throughout the country, supplying more than 69 thousand vaccines.

Carme Lozano Núñez, a member of Leticia’s PAI team, who recently obtained recognition in Spain for her work as an extramural vaccinator, symbolized the event, also being praised by the minister at the opening of the day. “Carmen represents all vaccinators and she achieved demonstrate, through a photograph, how resourceful all the members of the PAI team are, who on a date like today provide their services in the three thousand positions available throughout the territory.”

In the capital of the Amazon, the first dose of the bivalent vaccine against COVID-19 was administered, marking an important milestone in the fight against the pandemic. In total, 69,419 vaccines were administered throughout the national territory, including 46,584 doses in children under 6 years of age, 5,251 doses in children vaccinated against human papillomavirus (HPV) and 12,637 people protected against seasonal influenza. These figures reflect the commitment of the Colombian government to guarantee the health and well-being of its population.

He added that with the care that indigenous communities give to the Amazon rainforest, they are controlling climate change and, in turn, offer the rest of the world the possibility of surviving and avoiding a disaster that ends humanity.

The minister affirmed that President Petro’s government has managed to reduce deforestation in the region to preserve it. Warning that in order for the department to continue to remain a jungle region, it must be given compensation, not only from the country but also from the large countries that produce the greenhouse effect that consequently destroy the climate, he urged that they contribute their share and invest. in the region.
