Vaccination certificate for hundreds of thousands may not be on time due to registration problems

Hundreds of thousands of people vaccinated by the GP may not be able to use the CoronaCheck app next week. The vaccinations of these people are not yet properly registered in the national CIMS system.

Anyone who has been vaccinated at the GP can see via mijn.rivm.nl (after logging in with DigiD) whether the registration has already been successful. The Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport tells the NOS that people for whom this is not yet the case should ask their GP to do so. “You can imagine that those GPs are going to get quite a few calls,” said a spokesperson.

700,000 shots not yet registered

According to the RIVM, this concerns 700,000 injections that have not yet been registered. GPs still have five days to arrange this, because from June 23 it should be possible for fully vaccinated people to access restaurants and events without testing. From July 1, it should be possible to travel within the European Union with the app.

The national system is the ‘main route’, but a so-called ‘fallback option’ has also been created. GPs must be able to manually register the vaccination via a web portal. The introduction of the web portal should make it easier for general practitioners who cannot pass on the injections to the RIVM in their own system. That option will be available from next week, according to the ministry. The National Association of General Practitioners (LHV) says it is waiting for this.

Problems for months

It has not been possible for months to get a finger on the registration problem at the GPs. According to the LHV, some of the general practitioners do not yet have a link, but they are unable to say why.

At the last press conference, Minister De Jonge said that general practitioners are catching up. “It is in their own interest. They don’t feel like getting people who are almost on their way to France with their caravan at their desks with ‘Would you like to transfer my registration to the RIVM?’.” That is now likely to happen.

VWS wants to offer a solution for everyone. “Many are working, even day and night, to get people registered via all those systems.” In any case, it does not seem to be possible before June 23.

60-64 and high risk groups

All GPs have administered approximately 1.8 million injections. This mainly concerns people aged 60 to 64, but also the medical high-risk groups and some of the nursing home residents.

In addition, 1.3 million vaccinations have been administered in nursing homes and other care institutions. The registration is also not completely in order there.

By far the most injections so far have been taken by the GGD. They are not all registered in the national system there either, but that is not a problem for the CoronaCheck app because the app can also retrieve information from the GGD systems.
