Vaccination centers will participate in Christmas and New Year

From the Campo de Marte vaccination center in Jesús María, the Deputy Minister of Public Health, María Elena Aguilar, announced that the vaccination participate in Christmas and New Year to protect the population against the COVID-19 and 26 other vaccine-preventable diseases.

“We will continue with the vaccination. Even on public holidays we will have brigades as a contingency. Our goal is to cover the gaps of the third and fourth dose against covid-19. Vaccines are accessible, safe, free, effective and have decreased the lethality of our patients infected with the coronavirus,” the deputy minister indicated.

According to the executive director of the Department of Vaccinations of the Minsa, María Elena Martínez Barrera, today, December 26 and 30, the vaccination brigades will participate from 8:00 to 16:00, while on December 25 and January 1 people will be able to be vaccinated from 14:00 to 18:00

During the activity, the deputy minister supervised the vaccination of the participants who arrived to receive their fourth dose, as in the case of young Irving Pérez López, as well as little Mariana who received her coronavirus vaccine accompanied by his parents. Likewise, the official congratulated the health personnel for their tireless work.

“We are witnesses to the tremendous dedication shown by our vaccination brigades. For this reason, I want to thank the incredible effort of our healthcare personnel who have suffered during this pandemic. Thanks to them we have been able to obtain the coverage we currently have,” said María Elena Aguilar.

For these end-of-year celebrations, the deputy minister recommended continuing to respect prevention measures such as the correct use of the mask in closed, poorly ventilated and crowded places, as well as constant hand washing, physical distancing and completion of the vaccination programme.

Vaccination coverage

Specifically, the authority specified that, to date, vaccination coverage in the fourth dose is 24.75%, in the third it is 73%, in the second it is 90% and in the first dose it is 93%. According to the Single National Archive of Health Information (Reunis), a total of 86,483,078 doses have been applied in the country so far.

“In this fifth wave we have more than 900 deaths from covid-19. Of this number, more than 95% were people who had not been vaccinated or had an incomplete schedule. In this sense, I want to invite the population to reflect so that they please come and get vaccinated; The vaccines are free and of good quality ”, concluded the deputy minister.
