“We want a vaccine, we want a solution”, shouted some groups of parents who demanded that the logistics personnel put order. “We have been in training for more than three hours and we are not moving forward, better tell us if they are going to attend to us or not”, mothers demanded.
The anger escalated to the point that people gathered at the entrance fences to the Fray Andrés de Castro square, demanding that they put order into this vaccination campaign organized by the Municipal DIF in coordination with the State Government Health Secretariat. .
What did the authorities say?
The arrival of the municipal president, Raymundo Martínez Carbajal, who would lead the inauguration together with the Secretary of Health, Francisco Fernández Clamont, caused several mothers to complain about the organization.
As a result, the mayor referred in an interview that generally these types of campaigns were carried out in schools; however, on this occasion he had to resort to this modality given the great demand.
“We are going to have vaccines for everyone and until it is finished. Those who were scheduled are those who formed in the long line and those who arrived later saw a long line and chose to find another way “said.
He ruled out that due to the demand, new vaccination dates against the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) would be opened, but on the contrary, they requested a greater presence of vaccinators, in order to install at least 54 modules.
Finally, he announced that during this day they would apply around 3 thousand 500 doses against HPV and none of the attendees would be left without the application of the vaccine.
The problems continued
Around 1:00 p.m. more lines opened; however, the vaccination campaign continued to develop slowly, which led to discontent prevailing.
“What a bad organization, the vaccination would have been better done in the schools and not here in this place. We already lost the whole day and there is still no time to leave”added another of the mothers who took her daughter to be vaccinated.
According to the testimonies of several mothers, the waiting time exceeded four hours and that was the most desperate, “I arrived at 06:00 and I am leaving, what happens is that it took a long time to vaccinate and for the same reason, people were arriving and they could not cope”declared a mother from the north of Toluca who left the place at almost 10:00.
Given this disorganization, the event that would be chaired by the municipal president of Toluca, Raymundo Martínez Carbajal and the Secretary of Health of the state government, Francisco Fernández Clamont, had to be suspended.
