The National Vaccination Board (NIG) will again discuss the AstraZeneca coronavirus vaccine this evening.
“Today, more scientific and medical-technical data are being collected at European level,” said a brief statement from the office of Health Minister Rudolf Anschober (Greens). The NIG will – as it has already done several times in the past few weeks – deal with current developments relating to AstraZeneca.
The possible new data would be evaluated in the evening by the NIG and the NIG Safety Board together with experts from the Federal Office for Safety in Health Care (BASG) “in a national context”, explained the Ministry of Health.
In Germany, the federal and state governments had decided to only administer the AstraZeneca vaccine to people aged 60 and over. The background to this are cases of blood clots (thromboses) in cerebral veins in connection with vaccinations.
