District starts telephone campaign with registered children and adolescents
Around 18,000 vaccination doses are available to the district of Munich for first and second vaccinations this week alone. In contrast, the number of people registered in the central BayIMCO registration portal is decreasing. In addition, BayIMCO has not yet sent any automated invitations to children and young people under the age of 16. The vaccine from BioNTech / Pfizer can, however, be administered to children from 12 years of age even without a previous illness, according to the current approval.
The district of Munich is making use of this option and is therefore now offering vaccination appointments for children and adolescents aged 12 and over. Before the vaccination, special information must be given and, of course, the consent of the legal guardian must be available.
As a first step, the four vaccination centers in the district of Munich therefore contacted the children and adolescents already registered in BayIMCO or their legal guardians and asked if they were interested in a vaccination with Comirnaty®. So far, more than 500 vaccination appointments have been arranged for the coming weekend in this way.
The vaccination intervals can be shortened in accordance with the latest recommendations of the Standing Vaccination Commission, so that complete immunization is possible quickly, sometimes before the start of the summer holidays. Vaccination certificates are handed out immediately after the vaccination.
Parents and legal guardians who would like to arrange a vaccination appointment for their children have the option of calling one of the vaccination centers in the district or spontaneously dropping by the vaccination center during the regular opening hours.

I would like to thank the operators and employees of the vaccination centers who, with their great commitment, also made this campaign have made it possible so quickly and easily. Together with the vaccinating doctors, more than 307,000 vaccinations have been carried out in the past few months, “said District Administrator Christoph Göbel.
The opportunity opened yesterday to come to the vaccination centers in the district spontaneously and without an appointment has also been well received. Numerous citizens have already made use of it since yesterday afternoon. The employees of the vaccination centers work hard to serve all those who want to be vaccinated as quickly as possible. Due to the rush, there may be longer waiting times, for which the district office asks for your understanding.
