The cantonal vaccination centers are open between the public holidays from Monday, December 27th to Thursday, December 30th, as announced by the canton of Lucerne. Registration for the vaccination is required via registration form necessary. According to the announcement, those responsible expect a high occupancy rate in the vaccination centers.

The vaccination centers remain closed on the Christmas holidays from December 24th to 26th and from December 31st to January 2nd during the New Year. The decentralized vaccination sites in the Canton of Lucerne and the vaccination center in the Lucerne Cantonal Hospital will also be closed between the Christmas holidays.

If you want to be vaccinated without prior notification, you can still do so on the vaccination ship. The vaccination ship at the KKL in Lucerne is open this week up to and including Thursday, December 23rd and from Sunday, December 26th up to and including Friday, December 31st. The opening times are on the corresponding website published by the Health and Sport Service.

Vaccination capacity will be increased from January 2022

Due to the shortening of the waiting time for a booster vaccination to four instead of six months after the basic vaccination and the start of the vaccinations for children, those responsible at the vaccination centers expect a persistently high demand for vaccinations.

The canton of Lucerne is therefore increasing the capacities in the inpatient vaccination centers in Lucerne, Willisau and Hochdorf. From the beginning of January, the cantonal vaccination centers will be open daily until further notice. Registrations are via registration form possible.

The vaccination truck, where you can also get vaccinated spontaneously and without prior notice, continues to tour the canton of Lucerne: The vaccination truck is in Escholzmatt at B. Braun AG from January 3 to 15 and from January 17 to 29 in Schüpfheim on the parking lot at the Adler restaurant. The opening times are on the Website of the decentralized vaccination sites published.

The range of walk-in vaccination options will also be continued. You can get vaccinated spontaneously and without prior notification at the following locations:

  • Ebikon, Mall of Switzerland, January 3rd to January 29th
    (Vaccine: Spikevax® from Moderna)
  • Reiden, Hotel Sonne, January 3rd to 29th
    (Vaccine: Spikevax® from Moderna)

Children can be vaccinated from January

Preparations for the vaccinations for children aged 5 to 11 are currently underway, as the canton writes in the announcement. The vaccine is expected to be available in the canton of Lucerne in early January. As soon as further details have been clarified, the canton of Lucerne will provide further information. (pl)
