Ukrainians can use three types of vaccines: vector, inactivated and mRNA vaccines

Total since the start of the vaccination campaign in Ukraine got 12 747 523 vaccinations… Received the first dose – 7 072 803 people, completed vaccination (received two doses) – 5 674 722 people (of which 2 people received the first dose abroad).

Vaccinations were carried out by 897 mobile immunization teams, 2,976 vaccination sites and 346 vaccination centers.

What vaccines are now in Ukraine


Ministry of Health made public a list of the types of coronavirus vaccines currently available in the country. Ukrainians can use a vector, inactivated and mRNA vaccine:

  • Vector – AstraZeneca (Vaxzevria, CoviShield and SKBio);
  • Inactivated – CoronaVac / Sinovac Biotech;
  • мРНК – Comirnaty / Pfizer-BioNTech.

How the vaccine works


Vector – it uses a modified virus (vector), which is embedded with an “instruction” for the manufacture of the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein;

Inactivated – contains an inactivated, that is, “killed” virus;

mRNA – made on the basis of mRNA, which encodes the spike protein of the coronavirus, enters the body and gives “instructions” on how to develop this protein.

Vaccine use statistics


The start of vaccination against COVID-19 in Ukraine took place on February 24, 2021. Since the beginning of the company vaccinated 7 072 803 people the following vaccines:

  1. Pfizer – 2 687 118;
  2. Sinovac – 1 972 897;
  3. AstraZeneca – 1 290 066;
  4. Modern – 1 102 042;
  5. Janssen – 20 680.

98% of all hospitalized due to COVID-19 are not vaccinated


Earlier we reported that in Ukraine over the past three months, 98.1% of patients hospitalized with COVID-19 are those who have not been vaccinated.

“According to the electronic health care system, over the past three months, almost everyone who is admitted to the hospital due to a severe course or complications from COVID-19 in Ukraine is unvaccinated. If you want to save yourself from a severe course, hospitalization and death, do vaccination today, “said Igor Kuzin, the country’s chief state sanitary doctor.

According to him, there is now a rapid deterioration of the epidemiological situation, the daily number of new cases of COVID-19 has doubled within a week – from 3.3 thousand to Monday 13 September, up to more than 6 thousand in Friday 17 September.

Benefits for vaccinated citizens


  • Schools during the yellow level will only operate with 80% of the staff vaccinated.
  • The yellow restrictions will not apply if all participants (visitors) and at least 80% of organizers of public events, employees of cinemas, theaters, museums or other cultural institutions, gyms and swimming pools have a “yellow” or “green” COVID certificate.
  • The owners of the establishments will decide for themselves whether to serve unvaccinated people.
  • If a red level of epidemic danger is established, then educational institutions will work only if 100% of employees have a “green” COVID certificate.
  • If a person who crosses the border of Ukraine has a “yellow” or “green” certificate of vaccination or recovery from COVID-19, he may not self-isolate. This rule also applies to persons arriving from the temporarily occupied territories.
