Vaccination against COVID-19 rebounds after four weeks down and 1.78 million already have at least 1 dose

The Costa Rican Social Security Fund (CCSS) delivered on Tuesday the weekly report on the progress of the vaccination campaign against COVID-19 in Costa Rica.

According to the data provided by the institution and analyzed by Delfino.cr, during the previous week (twenty-ninth campaign) 84,996 doses of vaccine were applied, which represents an acceleration of 4.40% compared to the 28th week when 81,410 doses were applied in one week. This acceleration puts an end to the downward trend in vaccination recorded for four consecutive weeks due to the weekly reduction in doses delivered by Pfizer.

In total, the CCSS reports as 2,606,791 doses of vaccine placed of the 2,846,265 that have been received by the country (91.58%). Of the doses placed, 1,783,949 are first doses (68.44%, +79,085 new) and 822,842 are second doses (31.56%, +5911 new).

51.45% of the target population (≈3,467,364 according to the latest official estimate) have received the vaccine: 23.73% have the complete two-dose schedule.
