Vaccination against COVID-19 is reactivated due to prohibition of access to places

Those in charge of vaccination centers of the National District note an increase in the number of people who attended this Saturday to be vaccinated against the coronavirus disease.

The attendance of people in previous days was lower, compared to today, according to Dr. Ceyli de la Rosa, responsible for the point at the Olympic Center. The doctor attributed the increase to the announcement of the Government to prohibit access to workplaces or public transport to those who do not have the two doses of the injection. This measure will take effect on October 18.

De la Rosa reported that this morning more first and third doses were applied, both in minors and in adults.

The Government did not ask the National Congress for an extension for the state of emergency, so the curfew will no longer apply in the country as of next Monday, October 11.

Margarita Núñez, who was to apply the third dose at the Olympic Center, supported the Government’s decision and considered it a collective prevention measure. He said that companies must collaborate so that the new provisions are applied.

Although at the center located in Plaza Lama there were not many people at the time of the tour, its manager, Mary Pilar Paulino, said that the morning was fluid, with permanent attendance. The same was said by Ramón Méndez, from the position at the Pedro Henríquez Ureña National University (Unphu).

The vaccine most requested in the centers is that of Pfizer. It is an mRNA vaccine that requires two doses administered 21 days apart. This preparation is recommended for people 12 years of age or older.

Scanned IDs

Dr. Elsa Lima explained that the identity cards of those who are vaccinated are scanned to have a record of attendance.

Lima, from the vaccination center in Plaza Duarte, indicated that this helps to replace it if someone loses or damages the vaccination card.

Mary Pilar Paulino explained that the process consists of going to the health area to which the vaccination center belongs. There the record of the vaccinated person should appear and a second card is issued.

In the case of minors, the adult’s identity card must be scanned, because it represents him.
