Vaccination against COVID-19: 95,827 people have received the second booster in Guayaquil; older adults and young people are the ones who most go to get immunized | Community | Guayaquil
Héctor Moreno, an 81-year-old from Guayaquil, went alone to get vaccinated. He went single-handedly for his second reinforcement against COVID-19, that is, the fourth dose at the Salesian Polytechnic University, near his home. And when he returned with his vaccination card, he surprised his relatives.
Éricka, Héctor’s daughter, commented that he is very careful and that he already had the date for his booster vaccination but he had a fall and was hospitalized for a few days, however, as soon as he was able to recover he went to get vaccinated.
Like Héctor, other older adults and young people are among those who most go to vaccinations in Guayaquil, according to health personnel who work at those points.
The Ministry of Public Health (MSP) announced last Monday that the vaccination campaign would be reinforced due to the increase in positive cases of COVID-19 in the country. They will do so, in addition to the health centers and points already established, with companies, campuses, among other places.
According to figures from the MSP vaccinometer, in Guayaquil, of the total of 2,106,234 who completed their vaccination schedule, only 777,180 people have already received the first booster and there are 95,827 people who have the second booster of the vaccine.
In addition, in Guayaquil there are still people who did not even go to get the second dose. For example, according to reports, those who lack the second dose are 220,856 inhabitants (92,617 with Sinovac, 65,943 with AstraZeneca and 62,296 with Pfizer).
