En December 2020, Colombia assured for its citizens the first 40 million doses of vaccine for covid-19 through bilateral and multilateral mechanisms, with which it is planned to vaccinate the population in 2 phases and 5 stages, taking as prioritization of risk groups and thus progressively reach 35 million vaccinated Colombians.
For this purpose, in the National Vaccination Plan against COVID-19, the National Government defined seven principles:
In this way, the objective in the National Vaccination Plan against COVID-19 is in its first phase to reduce mortality and the incidence of serious cases due to this virus, as well as to protect health workers; while in the second phase it is to reduce the contagion to generate herd immunity.
