Vaccination against coronavirus in Ukraine – the immunologist made a statement

There is no point in being vaccinated in the fall with the same vaccines that are purchased now. This is due to the fact that even with a small change in the protein against which vector vaccines are stimulated, a discrepancy between the antigen and antibodies can occur, making the vaccine ineffective.

“Vector vaccines and RNA vaccines stimulate immunity against a fragment of the spike protein, that is, even with a small change in this protein, there may be a discrepancy between the antigen and antibodies, which will lead to the vaccine ineffectiveness. Natural immunity is produced to many proteins of the virus, most of which are stable, therefore one can assume long-term partial protection even against new variants, which is also called cross-immunity, “Volyansky said.

According to the physician, new studies have shown the ineffectiveness of existing vaccines for the new “South African” strain of coronavirus. Therefore, it is likely that this will be the case with the following strains.

“Vaccination in the second half of 2021 with existing vaccines has already lost its meaning, since the pandemic is drawing to a close and new seasonal vaccines must be used in the fall,” said Andrei Volyansky.

The immunologist also said that the arrival of the “South African” strain in Ukraine (which, allegedly, has already taken place) will lead to a sharp decrease in the effectiveness of vaccination.
