“I did not want to be vaccinated because I was troubled by the problems of certain vaccines. But my daughter registered me,” said Alain, 83, from Mainvilliers, leaving Chartrexpo this Saturday morning.
He is one of the volunteers who came to have a dose of Pfizer injected in Chartres on the occasion of the massive vaccination campaign orchestrated this weekend by Françoise Souliman, prefect of Eure-et-Loir.
Alain’s wife, Joëlle, 75, also came to Chartrexpo: “I volunteered for this injection, to protect us, but also our loved ones and other people we might meet in our life. The organization is perfect. It’s not long. Our daughter did well even though she waited 50 minutes before getting us an appointment. “
500 injections at 10:30 a.m.
Nicole, 73, from Saint-Piat, is also coming out of Chartrexpo: “It is necessary to stop this epidemic. Because isolation becomes psychologically exhausting.”
A 38-year-old woman, exercising a priority job, comes out delighted: “I am getting vaccinated because I do not want to be deprived of my liberty, and to be able to go on vacation if the State sets up a vaccination passport.”
At 10:30 am, this Saturday, the challenge of 4,420 doses – including 2,600 in the 9 boxes of Chartrexp – in two days seemed well underway. Medical staff had already performed nearly 500 injections, or nearly 180 injections per hour, according to the authorities.
This major challenge, unprecedented in the Center-Val de Loire region, is a life-size exercise. For the prefect of Eure-et-Loir, Françoise Souliman, “this health operation against Covid-19 consists of putting the whole organization under tension in order to improve itself for the next stages of vaccination. The mobilization was general with reinforcements from local communities, around forty firefighters from Eure-et-Loir, including ten nurses, liberal nurses, including a pensioner, pharmacists, a doctor … “
Eure-et-Loir already has 86,000 people vaccinated. Dominique Soulet, community advisor responsible for relations with health establishments at Chartres Métropole, was present: “We have succeeded in setting up an important logistical infrastructure, and adapted to this massive vaccination. It was complicated to triple this capacity of reception of the public, but we did it with the good will of all. ”
Priority
During the site visit with several departmental authorities, the State representative said: “Everyone is learning to work together even if it has already happened in times of crisis”
She also announced novelties: “Other people will soon be eligible for vaccination. This also concerns, for the next elections, people holding polling stations, municipal staff, assessors … without age criteria. . And with a reminder. They will have a dedicated time slot. ”
The massive vaccination campaign continues this Sunday, April 25 in Chartres, Dreux, Châteaudun and Epernon.
