According to Trouw, the Outbreak Management Team is concerned about the possible spread of the coronavirus by vaccinated healthcare workers. Infections with a high contagiousness are found among vaccinated healthcare workers, so there is a risk of transmission of this virus to vulnerable patients.
Most ‘breakthrough infections’ among healthcare workers are accompanied by mild or even no symptoms, but sometimes there are persistent complaints, such as a stuffy nose or respiratory complaints.
These people work in nursing homes, among other places. A sharp increase in infections is suddenly visible in that sector. Yesterday, the RIVM reported that at least one infection had been reported in 133 nursing home locations in the past 28 days. Ten days earlier, that figure stood at 56 nursing homes.
