– If you have been vaccinated with the first dose, you can meet people from other households indoors. Now it’s okay to hug the grandchildren, but be aware of symptoms, says the Public Health Agency’s director general Johan Carlson at a press conference on Friday.
Together with the government, he presented the new guidelines that apply to vaccinated people in the country.
Elderly people in Sweden who have been vaccinated can shop in the store, as long as it does not lead to congestion. Employees in elderly care can visit others and resume other activities.
However, the first dose should work for three weeks first, according to the advice from the Swedish authorities.
– Remember that the vaccine is effective, but not 100 percent. In case of symptoms, you have to test yourself and stay at home, says Carlson.
Continues with AstraZeneca
Swedish authorities consider the AstraZeneca vaccine safe and continue to use it. Those over 65 can get the vaccine in Sweden.
– Neither we nor anyone else sees risk in the material that exists, and therefore we do as the rest of the world and continue to use, says Carlson.
The Swedish authorities so far have no reports to make about the Janssen vaccine. The company has suspended the introduction of the vaccine in Europe, pending an assessment of blood clots in the United States.
At the press conference, Carlson was asked about the Russian Sputnik V vaccine.
– We only handle the approved, and it is not Sputnik, he says.
Sweden’s vaccine coordinator Richard Bergström says that discussions are ongoing.
– Several EU countries are cooperating with them. It is an application with EMA, and the intention is to have an agreement in place if and when it is approved, he says.
