The numbers are not on his side for now. Julio Vaccari’s statistics at Independiente are not good. The coach has yet to win since he joined the club: He collected two draws at home against Barracas (0-0) and San Lorenzo (0-0) and suffered two defeats away from home against Instituto (1-3) and Independiente Rivadavia (0-1). His team has scored only one goal in four matches and has not managed to take off. Despite everything, the coach praised the attitude of his players in the draw with Ciclón.
“I was very excited about the display of character”the 45-year-old man commented. “I’m leaving happy and represented by the performance of the players. We never gave up on the idea of looking for the game beyond the expulsion”he said. The coach believes that there were mitigating factors: the Reds played 71 minutes with one less man due to Alex Luna’s red card and could not use the reinforcements since the club remains suspended.
Vaccari did not want to blame the player who saw red: “Luna was injured and had the courage to play in a difficult situation. He will have to correct and improve what happened with the expulsion.”
The problem of Inhibitions
The coach has not yet been able to give minutes to the new signings. I had to worry about things that were in my hands.”Vaccari said in relation to how he experienced the situation of uncertainty as to whether he would be able to count on the new faces for the match, something that ultimately did not happen. Federico Vera, Felipe Loyola, Kevin Lomónaco, Marco Pellegrino, Nicolás Vallejo and Baltasar Barcia are the players who are waiting for clearance.

The coach also referred to the atmosphere that was perceived in the stadium. Before the match there were parades, flags against the footballers and many chants of protest to the management: “The fans have every right to express themselves in any way they want. I saw the players with such good and great energy that I wanted to get involved myself.”
Despite the difficulties, Vaccari believes that the club will be organized and said that it is aiming high: “When we arrived there were things that were not organized institutionally and they are being arranged. We are talking to Hugo Tocalli every day (NdeR: general coordinator of the lower divisions) and dedicated to organizing many things and seeking sporting excellence.”
