Serial production of sedans launched at the head office of UzAuto Motors in Asaka Chevrolet Onix. This large-scale project cost $427.6 million: more than 200 enterprises in Uzbekistan have launched the production of 1,500 different components for Onyx, already at the start, the degree of localization reaches 50%, and by the end of this year it is planned to increase it to 70%. In Uzbekistan, Chevrolet Onix with a length of 4.5 m is offered in two versions: aspirated 1.2 (90 hp) is aggregated with a five-speed “mechanics”, and a 1.2 turbo engine (132 hp) – with a six-speed “automatic”. Already in the basic configuration there are two airbags and ESP. Official prices start at 149 million soums (980 thousand rubles).
In Europe, the production of new hybrid versions of crossovers began Peugeot 3008 and Peugeot 5008. Such modifications debuted back in October, they are equipped with a new generation power plant, which includes a 1.2 petrol turbo (136 hp), a six-speed preselective “robot” and a 48-volt electric motor (28 hp) built into it. Hybrids will appear on sale in the second quarter, and then such power plants will be installed on European models 208, 2008, 308 and 408.
Mitsubishi intends to launch the production of electric vehicles outside of Japan. The first-born will be the already famous microvan Mitsubishi Minicab-MiEV: it was produced at the Japanese plant from 2011 to 2021, and in the fall of 2022 it was returned to the conveyor again, and in its original form. Now production will be organized at the Mitsubishi plant in Indonesia, where the Pajero Sport and Xpander models are already made. The first electric vehicles here are expected to be released in 2024.
Cadillac will introduce three new electric vehicles by the end of this year, although their production will begin only in 2024. There is no information yet about what kind of cars these will be, but the company has already registered different names for future electric trains: Ascendiq, Optiq, Symboliq, Vistiq, Lumistiq and Escalade IQL. So far, there is only one serial electric car in the range – the Cadillac Lyriq crossover (pictured), which entered the market last fall. At the end of this year, the release of the flagship Cadillac Celestiq will begin.
Sports car Audi TT is preparing for retirement: a farewell batch of cars in the performance of the Final Edition has been prepared especially for England. Features include black décor, 20-inch wheels, aft spoiler and a rich array of options. Such coupes and roadsters will appear at local dealers in March and will cost from 41,910 pounds. The UK has been selected as the largest market for the TT, with 2,672 units sold here last year, representing 33% of the global figure. Production of the Audi TT model will be completed this year.
A van is also introduced in the UK Toyota Corolla Commercial, made in haste from a standard station wagon, which is just being produced at the company’s English plant. A partition with a grille is installed behind the front seats, the rear sofa is removed, the windows are muffled, and the resulting cargo compartment with a volume of 1326 liters has a flat floor. The van with a carrying capacity of 425 kg is offered only with a hybrid power plant, which consists of aspirated 1.8, an electric motor (140 hp in total) and an electromechanical variator.
