“We began to implement this project in the summer – we established all the necessary processes as soon as possible – and today the residents of Vasilkov have finally received a comfortable alternative to road transport. We expect that on weekdays the passenger traffic on the route will reach 5-7 thousand passengers per 24 hours, “said Minister of Infrastructure Alexander Kubrakov.
According to him, the multimillion metropolitan metropolitan area needs such projects as Kyiv City Express, Kiev bypass road in order to relieve traffic from congestion and be able to plan travel time.
“The capital region has suffered from unsystematic infrastructural development and long-term multiplication of long-term construction projects for too long. The President’s program Big Construction is finally correcting these mistakes,” the minister stressed.
In turn, the head of the board of Ukrzaliznytsia, Alexander Kamyshin, recalled that over the past 10 years, only an express train to the Borispol airport has been opened for passengers. No other projects, despite the great need, were implemented.
“This is the first project that we have already completed, which will improve the quality of passenger transportation,” he added.
To launch the new route, the section was not only repaired and electrified, but also a new passenger platform was built in the center of the city of Vasilkov (Vasilkov-2 station). Previously, suburban trains from Kiev arrived at the Vasilkov-1 station, located in the village of Kalinovka, 10 km from Vasilkov.
18 flights will be operated daily on the Kiev – Vasilkov route.
