ÚVN objected to questioning the care of Zeman

Zinke on Wednesday at press release she said that speculation, disinformation and offensive statements appeared in the media almost daily in connection with Zeman’s hospitalization.

“At the ÚVN, the good of the patient is the highest law,” she said. According to her, the hospital must comply with the law and cannot publish information about patients if they do not wish to do so. “Every ÚVN patient is primarily perceived as a person who needs treatment, medical care, dignified treatment and a sense of security,” she said.

Some doctors and experts have questioned the president’s diet in recent hours in the media, as his spokesman reported.

Zeman was transferred to ÚVN on Sunday. According to Miroslav Zavoral, the president’s attending physician and ÚVN director, the reason for the complications was Zeman’s chronic illness. Zavoral did not tell the media the exact diagnosis because he did not have the patient’s consent. Zinke said on Monday that Zeman’s health was stable. According to the president’s spokesman Jiří Ovčáček, Zeman communicates, monitors the political situation and gets acquainted with the latest events. No further information on his health is available.

On Tuesday, Ovčáček also announced that Zeman had lunch on apricot buns and ordered wine sausage with mashed potatoes for today. According to some doctors, such a diet is not suitable for a patient placed in an intensive care unit who is also being treated for diabetes.

According to Zinke in the ÚVN, the president and all patients receive due care. “The treatment program for each patient, which also includes the determination of medication and diet, is compiled by specialists in the field and always corresponds to the adequate health problems, diagnosis and health status of the patient,” she wrote.

“We cannot provide information about patients, but we can object if the honest work of professionals, challenged by empathy, human approach and understanding of the patient’s needs, is challenged or denied,” she added.

Prague Castle does not provide details about Zeman’s health. This has sparked speculation about his ability to hold the presidency. Server Diary N he said on Wednesday that the president’s condition is more serious than his surroundings admit. Referring to three sources from his surroundings, the state administration and the medical environment, he wrote that the current nature of the president’s illness represents a major limitation for the performance of his duties. According to the server, Zeman suffers from liver encephalopathy, which is caused by acute or chronic liver failure. Sources of Diary N said the president was disoriented, saying unrelated things or forgetting.

Deník N and Radiožurnál have previously stated that Zeman suffers from ascites, ie the accumulation of water in his abdomen due to liver problems. Former President Václav Klaus, who visited him in the hospital during his first hospitalization, also said that the president’s liver problems were related to his liver.

According to doctors contacted by the diary Aktuálně.cz, a two – year – old medical report published after the president ‘s hospitalization does not indicate liver problems. Chronic cirrhosis has been developing for decades.

“According to the medical report, blood tests were not completely normal, but it cannot be inferred from them whether cirrhosis was already present at that time. However, this is not out of the question, ”commented Jan Lata, Rector of the University of Ostrava, who is a professor of internal medicine, on the medical report for Aktuálně.cz. He expected the cirrhosis to be detected by sonography, which was reported to be of normal value.
