Utrecht pays declaration of expertise required for gender reassignment | inland

From now on, the municipality of Utrecht will pay for the declaration of expertise that residents need when they want to change their gender on the birth certificate and in the basic registration.

BIJ1 and the Party for the Animals wondered whether the municipality reimburses the costs of administrative change of sex. Mayor Sharon Dijksma confirmed during question time that residents will no longer have to pay these costs themselves in the future, writes RTV Utrecht.

Residents who want to change their gender on the birth certificate and in the basic registration need a declaration of expertise. It costs 65 euros. There is also an interview beforehand. That costs 250 euros.

The municipality of Utrecht wants to reimburse both costs and is looking into whether this can also be done retroactively.

The costs incurred by residents when applying for a new ID card are not reimbursed by the municipality. There is no budget for that, reports RTV Utrecht.
