The show with the work of the Italian writer Edoardo Erba “UTOYA, a forgotten day”, directed by Thodoris Gogou, will be presented by Non Grata Productions at the “Kyklos” Theater (Aravantinou 14) on May 11 and 12. There will be a total of four performances: at 19:00 and at 21:00. The project is being staged for the first time in Greece.
The Case: On July 22, 2011, on the Norwegian island of Utoja, a far-right criminal shot dead 69 of 560 young people who had gathered peacefully at a Socialist Party camp.
In the note of the show it is mentioned among other things: “The massacre in Utoja was a political massacre […]. Utoya is an attempt at memory and denunciation without doing ‘political theatre’. Utoya is itself a modern tragedy. Looking at her is like looking at Medea, Oedipus, the Bacchae, with the only difference that what she tells happened before our eyes, on a hot July day, a few, very few years ago. We saw it happen in our country too. We have to pay close attention to who we are, to which society we are heading, to pay attention, a lot of attention, to the world we want to leave in the hands of our children.”
