Ffinally came the victory of the San Antonio Spurs with which the legendary Gregg Popovich becomes the winningest coach in NBA history after beating the Utah Jazz 104-102.
Popovich surpasses his friend and mentor, the hysterical Don Nelson, with whom he was tied for 1,335 regular-season wins in the league. and who enters the Milwaukee Bucks, New York Knicks, Dallas Mavericks and Golden State Warriors.
Gregg has been with the San Antonio Spurs since 1996, with whom he has won 5 NBA championships in 23 playoffs and six finals during his tenure.
“Something like this does not belong to an individual. Basketball is a team sport. You preach to the players that they have to do everything together, and that is what has happened in my life, with all the tremendous players and staff that I have had and that has been a blessing. They have supported me in this wonderful city. And the fans support us unconditionally”, declared the coach at the end of the game.
“We all share this record. It’s not just mine, it’s ours, the whole city’s,” Popovich thanked the Spurs fans.
