Utah Hockey Club recalls Maveric Lamoureux

The Utah Hockey Club has announced the recall of Maveric Lamoureux from the Tucson Roadrunners. This call-up follows long-term injuries to guards Sean Durzi and John Marino, who will be away from the ice for several months.

Both athletes have undergone surgeries: Durzi, who had surgery on his right shoulder, will be out between four and six months, while Marino will recover from back surgery for the next three to four months.

Both were defensive pillars of André Tourigny’s brigade. Durzi has two points in four games this year. Last year, he recorded 41 points in 76 games with the Arizona Coyotes. Marino, acquired this summer, had not yet played a game during the regular schedule, having been injured during the preseason. With the New Jersey Devils in 2023-2024, he totaled 25 points.

Lamoureux, for his part, will take advantage of these injuries to begin his adventure in the National Hockey League (NHL). The tall 6-foot-7 defenseman is off to a promising start to his professional career in the American Hockey League (AHL) with Tucson. In 2024-25, the Coyotes’ 2022 first-round pick appeared in four games and recorded three points, including two goals.

The 20-year-old Quebecer could take his first steps in the Bettman circuit on Thursday, when Utah hosts Nathan MacKinnon and the Colorado Avalanche.

Before joining the professionals, the Lavalois played for four campaigns under the colors of the Drummondville Voltigeurs in the Maritimes Quebec Junior Hockey League (QMJHL). During his stay in the Centre-du-Québec region, he took part in 152 games and recorded 83 points.
