SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH- Utah Board of Education member Natalie Cline broke her silence on social media ahead of the board’s scheduled meeting to present her case Wednesday afternoon.
“Before the closed-door hearing today at 3 p.m., where the Board will debate the substance of the complaints received against me, they will have to respond if they have analyzed whether their actions are a form of electoral interference,” said Cline. “I would like to participate in the process and defend myself. However, @utboardofed is moving so fast that they are making it impossible for me to read all the materials they have provided me, gather evidence, draft a response, and prepare for a hearing,” she added.
Cline reportedly implied that a high school athlete was transgender, prompting a member of the Utah Board of Education to apologize and delete her social media post.
Natalie Cline has been in the eye of a hurricane for her controversial comments on social media on about three occasions.
The post also drew responses from politicians, with Governor Cox’s office issuing an official statement calling it “unconscionable behavior,” adding that “this is not the first time board member Cline has embarrassed the state of Utah and the board.” of state education”.
The Granite School District and Millcreek City Council officials also demanded Cline’s resignation after the controversial comment.
