On Monday April 4, a police patrol noticed a bizarre SUV on the highway at Ogden, in northern Utah (USA). The car was driving at 50 km / h on a stretch however limited to 110 km / h. She also changed lanes without flashing and negotiated a curve with great reluctance. The police turned on the lights and siren from behind them and the driver stopped in the left lane.
Lt. Nick Street told the site BuzzFeed that the intervening officer, Rick Morgan, thought he was dealing with a person with impaired capacity or in a state of medical emergency. But when he got to the interior, he had quite a surprise. It was a child who was behind the wheel, seated at the end of the seat so that his feet could reach the pedals.
The child was in tears
After helping him turn off the engine, the officer questioned him. In tears, the kid told him he was 5 years old. When the police asked him where he was going, he said: in California. Which is hundreds of kilometers away. Why? To buy a Lamborghini! The child must not have known the price of such a car because he had only 3 dollars on him! And if he had chosen California, it was also because his sister lived there and that he wanted to go see her.
Fortunately, the boy was only able to travel a few kilometers from his home where, his parents being both at work, he was looked after by his teenage brother. But he escaped his surveillance, took the keys to the car and left with this funny idea in mind.
Police discuss with state prosecutor whether or not to prosecute parents, but Lt. Street believes that, seen as the child cried after being caught, it is unlikely that he was want to reoffend.
