The USV Potsdam boxing club was awarded the silver “Star of Sports” by the Volksbanken Raiffeisenbanken and the Landessportbund of Brandenburg for the FAIR Boxing project. The boxing club can expect second place for over 1,500 euros, the Brandenburg Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports said Tuesday.
According to the project website, it is a youth assistance project that uses the potential of the sport of boxing for youth and integration work. Regular training units and targeted educational support are said to be combined.
According to the ministry, the so-called “Sports Stars” are an initiative of the German Olympic Sports Association and the Volksbanken Raiffeisenbanken. As a result, they honor sports clubs and their many volunteers for their social commitment.
The football club FSV Groß Kreutz was awarded first place for the project “Sports club in transition – from a troubled savings company to sport for the whole family – strong membership growth despite Corona”. The gold prize is endowed with 2500 euros.
