Ustadz Adi Hidayat hand over humanitarian funds amounting to Rp. 14.3 billion from the people of Indonesia for Palestine through the Indonesian Ulema Council (MULTI-FUNCTION). According to the plan, the funds will be used for the construction of a hospital in the City of Hebron, Palestine.
“We are called upon under the mandate of the 1945 Constitution to both contribute in helping others. We hand over one million US dollars to help Palestine through MUI,” Adi Hidayat said while handing over the aid at the Central MUI Office, Jakarta, Monday (24/5 ).
According to UAH – ustadz Adi Hidayat’s close nickname – his party opened fundraising from May 16 to 22. During those six days, around Rp 30 billion in humanitarian funds had been collected from the Indonesian people.
This figure will be channeled into three priority categories, namely for various urgent needs, construction of hospitals / infrastructure, and educational programs for the Palestinian people.
In meeting urgent needs, Adi has channeled community funds amounting to Rp.10.2 billion through the Indonesian International Networking for Humanitarian (INH) Humanitarian Institute in Gaza.
As for the designation, such as medicine, food, ambulance, and compensation for victims of Israeli military aggression. Meanwhile, for educational assistance, Adi will collaborate with universities in Indonesia to accommodate Palestinian students.
“Collapsed buildings can be rebuilt, destroyed houses can be rebuilt, but mentally destroyed and retarded education are not easy to be able to rebuild. Therefore we have long-term programs to support education,” he said.
At the same time, MUI will also hand over the first phase of funding assistance for the construction of the Indonesia Hebron Hospital (RSIH) amounting to IDR 19 billion to the Mayor of Hebron Tayser Abu Sneineh.
Furthermore, the donations that Adi Hidayat collected together with the donations that have been successfully raised by the Construction Committee of the Central MUI Hospital will be symbolically handed over to the Palestinian Ambassador in Jakarta Zuhair Al Shun.
The construction of the Palestinian Hospital has been proclaimed by MUI since early 2020. This humanitarian aid has received support from the Mayor of Hebron Tayser Anu Sneineh and an MoU has been carried out in Amman Jordan 20 January 2020.
In the MoU it was agreed that the RSIH development cooperation. The Central MUI will provide and seek costs of Rp. 100 billion from humanitarian donations for all Indonesian people, while the Mayor of Hebron will provide the land area of 4,000 m2.
After this symbolic handover phase one, fundraising for the construction of the RSIH will continue. The submission was carried out in stages in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia and the Indonesian Embassy in Amman which also serves as the State of Palestine.
“MUI support is not only manifested in the form of humanitarian assistance, but also political support through the Government of Indonesia to continue to be at the forefront of peaceful settlement of Israeli colonial aggression that is incompatible with humanity and justice,” said MUI Deputy Chairman Muhyiddin Junaidi.
