Today after three weeks at 3 pm the general practitioner arrived in Ussassai. It’s Angelo Pili, owner of Lanusei, the same one who reactivated the service in Seui yesterday morning.
But for the two countries there are no doctors willing to take on the semester assignment. The service therefore goes on in fits and starts with serious discomfort for the borrowers. This is the serious crisis that is affecting general medicine in these municipalities. The population of the small Ogliastra town with a high incidence of elderly people often alone for whom it is impossible to go to Seui independently.
In the afternoon today, outside the clinic, a long line, over thirty people, waited to ask above all for the prescriptions of life-saving drugs that pharmacies cannot anticipate without a doctor’s red prescription. Concern among the population, who wonder : if there is an urgency during the day who should we refer to? For tomorrow, Dr. Rosalba Melis will open the clinic in Seui at around 8.30 and at the end of the morning she will be available in Ussassai from around 12 to 13.30.
