The height of the center is 541 meters (with a spire), or 1776 feet (1776 – the year of the adoption of the Declaration of Independence of the United States. According to the city administration, in a thunderstorm next to the building is safe, thanks to its modern security system. Alan Reiss, construction director at One World Trade Center, said it actually protects the surrounding area.

“Because One WTC is 1,776 feet tall, the tower essentially protects everything within a circle with it at its center and a radius of 1,776 feet.” Reiss said.
